What to expect from a guided tour
A guided tour is a walk, a ride or a visit led by a guide who explains what you're looking at as you go. The most common are walking tours of one and a half to three hours around a city centre, built around a theme: royal history and the Changing of the Guard, crime stories, film and book locations, black history or historic pubs. You stop at each point while the guide tells the story behind it.
There are other formats too. Cycling tours cover more ground in three to five hours. Minibus tours spend a day around an island or a stretch of countryside, and boat tours follow rivers and waterways. The voucher also covers entry to castles, cathedrals, palaces and landmarks, some with an audio guide in several languages, as well as distillery visits with a tasting. For walking tours, comfortable shoes and a waterproof are worth bringing, as most of the time is spent outdoors.
What you need
- Most walking tours and visits are open to all ages, and some set a minimum of 10 or 14.
- Pub and whisky tours are for over-18s.
- Cycling tours ask for a minimum age of 10 or 13 and a height of at least 145 cm.
- Many castles, cathedrals and landmarks have wheelchair access.

Frequently asked questions
How long is it valid?
5 years from purchase. The exact date is printed on the voucher.
What if they don't fancy guided tours?
The voucher works for any other experience on Yumping.
Can it be used in several goes?
Yes. Whatever isn't spent stays in their Yumping wallet.
Can the family come along?
Each person pays their place on the tour. The voucher pays for as much as it covers and they top up the rest. One voucher per person also works.
What if the weather is bad?
If the tour is cancelled for the weather, they agree another date with the provider. Castles, museums and other indoor visits are a good choice in winter.
Are the tours in English?
Yes, unless the listing says otherwise. Some attractions also offer audio guides in other languages.
