Snowshoeing to the Seven Peaks in Navacerrada

You have to come and visit an emblematic place in the Sierra de Guadarrama with us. A place, whose beauty and magic are totally intoxicating when you discover them completely covered in snow and that offers an epic adventure if you come to know it with this great plan that we want to propose to you, with a snowshoe excursion to the Seven Peaks , a mountain formation very close to the Madrid municipality of Navacerrada, although perfectly sandwiched between Segovia and the province of Madrid, and which we will get to know in depth with this snowshoe outing 6 hours long.

Without a doubt, a great adventure that will give you an unforgettable day, but it is not for everyone. If this is the first time you are going to put on snowshoes, it is better to look at another route, like the one we do to La Najarra peak, because this exit to The Seven Peaks is for people who have some experience since it is medium difficulty. A 9-kilometer-long journey awaits us with a gradient of 500 meters. To that we have to add that we will be walking for 6 hours in quite cold weather, so if you are a first-timer this plan is not for you.

For this snowshoe outing we have everything planned, from the materials for the excursion to the guide with the itinerary already drawn up. For the rest you can come without worrying. The only thing you will have to do is get to Navacerrada, bring appropriate clothing for the snow, come with hiking boots (very important), sun cream, glasses, and something to eat and drink to mitigate the lack of energy during the route.

The exact itinerary of the snowshoe excursion to the Seven Peaks sometimes varies depending on the group, the weather or the access, although we normally start it from the parking lot of the Puerto de Navacerrada . From here we take a paved road that will take us to the right side of the Dos Castillas. In this sense we will join the Schmidt Trail, a marked route of beautiful natural beauty since we will be immersed in a forest that will be completely covered in snow.

We will travel the Schmidt Path until we reach Collado Ventoso, and we will be very lucky to be able to contemplate this completely snowy environment, because it is one of the most beautiful in the entire Sierra from Guadarrama, and dyed white, takes on a different look. Here we will take a path that goes out to the left and that will take us to the Seven Peaks range. Taking this path we will first reach the second peakof its seven and we will explore its surroundings until we reach the Somontano peak, that is, the seventh and highest of all, with 2138 meters high.

From here we will go downhill to reach the Pradera de los Siete Picos, one of the best parts of this snowshoe route since we will be immersed in another beautiful forest, whose paths will lead us to the end of this snowshoe excursion, leaving us right next to the TwoCastiles.
