Half Day Kayaking at River Derwent

If you want to try something new, getting a taste of Kayaking on the River Derwent at Darley Abbey is a decision you won't regret!

This session takes place near Derby, and we openly invite everyone from paddlers with no experience to kayaking enthusiasts with lots of experience; we promise to craft a thrilling adventure and boost your skills immensely.

We can offer excellent progression in abilities for everyone because of our professional instructors who will lead you on an exciting exploration of the river and teach you many essential skills to give you confidence on the water and even some more skills like forward and reverse paddling, moving the boat sideways, ruddering and more to provide you with skills for the future and enhance your experience with us.

There will be lots of thrilling games and challenges to engage in while you marvel at the beauty of the stunning sights along the river to keep you entertained.

We provide all the necessary equipment, including the kayak, paddle and buoyancy aid. We also have changing facilities for males and females on site.

Whatever experience you have, you will leave a more confident and skilled paddler; this taster session lasts a full day and gives you plenty of time to go from zero to hero.

All the kayaking fun will be taking place at Darley Abbey near Derby, so if you live close by or are visiting, you won't find a better way to boost your skills while experiencing the most fun you could have on the water anywhere else in the area, under the guidance of our fully qualified instructors.

Our experienced instructors keep the whole group entertained for the entire day with lots of fun games and exciting challenges, making it the perfect activity for your next birthday party or family reunion; kayaking while independent is a great way to bond together and create memories alongside friends and family on the water.

You will quickly get to grips with the basics after being adequately briefed and equipped with all the necessary equipment like the kayak, paddle and buoyancy aid. You will learn forward and reverse paddling, moving the boat sideways, turning as well as getting in and out of the boat.
