Have you ever heard of the Giant's Causeway? A priori it sounds like one of the places where one of the epic battles from The Lord of the Rings or some movie set in medieval times takes place. The Giant's Causeway is a nature reserve in Northern Ireland that contains around 40,000 basalt columns resulting from the cooling of lava from a volcano.

We talk about the Causeway because, although it is not nearly as well known, the Ana Ferreira Peak on the island of Porto Santo is quite similar, with that tubular structure that rises vertically above the ground. And how good it feels when you discover a wonder of nature that only 1% of mortals on the face of the earth know about.

However, doing it on foot is not the same as on the back of a horse on a hour and a half journey. You will reach this point and also the Grotto of the same name, crowned by a stone arch open to the void from which hangs a natural stone bridge suspended in the air. You have to see it to believe it.

Our route originates in the equestrian center of Porto Santo, stops in the Ana Ferreira area and takes the return path. At our side, we will have a faithful squire in the figure of one of our qualified instructors, who will not give up in their efforts to turn the excursion into a most pleasant experience.

When you decide to go to school, do so with comfortable clothing, appropriate pants, not too tight, and shoes resistant to terrain or mountain boots under the arm. For everything else, that is, the required helmet, the saddle and other elements attached to the horse, it is enough to ask us before the beginning of the the route.

And remember, man does not only live off the Giant's Causeway.
