On the occasion of the fifth national day of the Francigena paths, the Eco-Agriturismo "Oasi Masseria Sant'Elia" of Casalbore is organizing a unique opportunity for lovers of nature and trekking: a walk along the ancient path of faith of thePilgrims' Way or Longobardorum, part of the ancient Via Francigena of the South.
The activity is part of the many proposals of the Masseria Sant'Elia Oasis aimed at promoting a distinct and "slow" approach to the territory and contributes to its sustainable rediscovery, among archaeological settlements of the Samnites and traces of the civilization of transhumance.
The eco-tourist route will take place on foot and will be guided by highly qualified personnel and will take place on part of the "via dei Pellegrini" (the Appia-Traiana, Micaelica) in the stretch that starts from Casalbore Masseria Sant'Elia and touches distinct, interesting points, such as the karst cave of the Archangel Michael, (rest station of the via Sacra Longobardorum), the Madonna della Macchia Sanctuary and the Chianche bridge, in a circular route that will return to the Masseria.
It will also be an excellent opportunity for a moment of aggregation with your friends and with a group of other participants with whom you can share the emotion of this historical cultural spiritual journey along a stretch of the thousand-year-old road once traveled by pilgrims, armies, saints , crusaders and which was an important road route for the passage to the Holy Land and for passing through the Sanctuary of the Archangel Michael, which became a pilgrimage destination.
The preciousness of the area meant that the phases of recognition as a "Unesco World Heritage Site" began.
