45 km south of La Paz is El Triunfo, it was known at the end of the 19th century for its gold and silver mineswhich brought prosperity to the town and promoted the development of towns throughout the region. southern region of the peninsula. In 1912 the main mining company stopped operating and the town was abandoned after being the most populated place in the state in its most prosperous time.
Today it has only 400 inhabitants however its buildings, church and cemeteries continue to be part of the daily life of the town and welcome tourists every year to tell them their story. In this picturesque town we can also find a Music Museum in a colonial-style building from the 19th century. Another attraction for visitors is its Cactus Sanctuary, a natural reserve where you can find various species of cacti, a favorite place for nature lovers and researchers.
Then we will go to San Antonio, a small town very close to El Triunfo surrounded by palm trees and also full of history; Here we can find the first water tower, its temple dedicated to San Antonio, a cemetery and old mines.
