Deal overview
Lead climbing involves a climber ascending a rock wall, clipping themselves into climbing protection as they go. Their partner, the “second”, belays the lead climber as they ascend. This is one of the most common forms of rock climbing around the world, and there’s nowhere like the Lake District to try it out for the first time.
This course assumes some prior knowledge and experience of rock climbing, as you’ll use your existing skills to adapt to the lead climbing method. Besides lead climbing, the contents cover simple rescue techniques, navigation and guidebook reading skills, and how to place belays correctly.
The full-day course progresses under the guidance of our AMI-certified instructors. They have the training to get you climbing like never before, and they’re great people to spend the day with too. On top of that, they know the area around our Keswick base better than any, using their local knowledge to tailor the day’s activities to your needs.
The course comes with all the climbing and safety equipment included. Your guide will give you a detailed safety briefing, help you with the kit and ensure safe practice throughout. The course lasts around 7 hours, so be prepared to spend a full day in the great outdoors!
