General information
Company Overview
Come and explore Seend Locks with Canal & River Trust! We are locates in the beautiful Kenneth & Avon Canal, which it´s a great place to start discovering the beautiful canal barges and the local quarries.
A little bit of history. In the Victorian era, Seend Locks was the place whhere the iron ore was extracted on a commercial scale. So, you can see those nice remains whilst dog walking, cycling, canoeing and walking. To enjoy a full daypass, we nearby have the Dundas Aqueduct, Avocliff Aqueduct, Devizes and Bradford on Avon.
Things to do at Seend Locks:
- Visit the Seend Park swingbridge and notice the historical chains and ironwork.
- Pack a picnic and go for a lovely walk throughtout the woodland.
- Cycle through our towpath.
- Look out for our wild conservation. Spot the mute swans, coots, kingfishers, heroons and moorhens.
- Do some fishing and watch the boats passing through the locks.
We recommend that after the boat trip you can have a nice evening in one of our pubs, like the Barge Inn. Spend a day with us in our new restored canal and enjoy a scenery of tranquility, history and beauty.
