You can practise it both in open waters, such as the sea or ocean, as well as in inland waters (if you're not lucky enough to live near the beach, lakes work perfectly too). You'll need to take all necessary precautions if it's your first time, as you'll have to maintain your balance while firmly holding onto the rope as the boat speeds along at high velocity.
Beginners normally go at a maximum speed of 55 kilometres per hour, but more experienced skiers can reach up to 150 km/h. Don't know what position to take? Simple—here are our tips:
- Hold the handle at waist height, as this is the most comfortable and appropriate position for this activity.
- Keep your arms slightly bent at the elbows to avoid discomfort.
- Maintain your shoulders parallel to the water's horizontal line without twisting.
- Keep your ankles about 30 centimetres apart and slightly flexed, but never bend your hips.
Your body posture is controlled by your lower back and dorsal muscles: remember to keep them trained so they don't become overloaded by the force exerted by your arms.
Always warm up before starting the activity, particularly your joints, hips, and neck.

Don't let the boat go faster than you can handle based on your limited experience, and make sure there's someone constantly following you so they can assist promptly in case of a fall.
