This week, we're suggesting jet skiing! Below, you'll find answers to the main questions you might have when considering jet skiing during your holiday!
Who can hire a jet ski?
If the hire jet ski has an engine power exceeding 4.5 kW (6 HP), you'll need a boat licence. A coastal licence is perfectly adequate for riding a jet ski, and it can be obtained from age 16.
If you don't have a boat licence, you can still hire a jet ski with an engine under 6 HP, but only under the supervision of a State-Certified Jet Ski Instructor. You'll still need to be at least 16 years old. Some centres require riders to be 18 or over.
Jet Ski or Sea Scooter?

The jet ski is also called a Stand-Up Jet. You ride in a standing position. It's more physically demanding than a sea scooter. Perfect for those seeking thrills!
- The Sea Scooter:
You'll be seated. In fact, you'll likely take your first jet ski experience on a sea scooter, as they're two-seaters (some models can take one or two passengers). Ideal for tours, it's comfortable while still delivering excitement! Also called a sit-down jet.

How much does a jet ski outing cost?
- A taster session with an instructor will cost between £20 and £30 for 10-15 minutes of fun!
- For hire: If you have a boat licence and want to ride independently, expect to pay between £100 and £200 per hour depending on the engine power and jet ski brand!
- For a jet ski tour: It all depends on the duration. Options range from 40-minute sessions to multi-day adventures with overnight camping. As a guide, a 40-minute outing costs around £70-£80, while a full-day tour averages £400 (excluding meals).

The great thing about jet skis is that they offer options for every budget. From £20 to £400, there's something to suit every backside and every pocket!
Happy holidays everyone!
