You can't deny that a quad bike route is an activity that will allow you to release stress, but before getting behind the handlebars, we advise you to consider some factors that could significantly affect your experience. Do you meet all the requirements?

Types of licences for driving a quad bike

  • 50cc quad bikes

If you're looking for a slightly calmer adventure, you can ride this type of quad bike. Its engine won't allow you to exceed 45km/h and to drive it, you only need a moped licence, so its usefulness will vary depending on what you're looking for.

  • Special vehicles

To drive a registered quad bike in this category, you will need a car driving licence. Its speed reaches about 100 km/h, but handling this type of vehicle is undoubtedly great fun and exciting. Generally, if you hire a company's services to explore an environment on a quad bike, they'll give you the opportunity to ride one of these.
  • Quadricycles

If there are approved quad bikes in this category then you'll need either a licence A (for motorcycles with or without sidecars, tricycles and motor quadricycles) or a licence B.

What else should I know?

You'll mainly need a B1-type driving licence, though this generally depends on the engine size and vehicle registration. As each type of quad bike is different, so is the licence you need to drive it.

It's very important that you have the appropriate licences and even more important that you respect speed limits, as failing in either case could risk you receiving a fine.

One of the fundamental reasons why we need to possess driving licences is safety. Let's not forget that a vehicle with these characteristics can reach considerable speeds, and if we weren't familiar with this practice, we could get more than just a scare.

It's also true that driving a quad bike isn't the same as driving a car, for example, but simply by having a licence B we'll have certain reflexes that will give us greater safety.

For all these reasons, whether you're thinking of buying one of these vehicles or want to do a route with a quad bike company, the best thing you can do is first obtain the necessary permits and you'll see that you won't have any problems or, at least, you'll be better prepared to drive them.

Daytime or nighttime routes will give you incredible sensations and you'll want to repeat the experience. Don't wait any longer - it's a tremendously fun activity and you won't regret it!
